What is Art of Meditation Program?
Mindfulness and Healing through Art.
For Children -
The Art of Meditation is a program designed to encourage children to embrace their creativity, self worth and compassion. We learn how different emotions and ways of thinking affect us, we learn how to deal with worries and stress. Meditation and Mindfulness and Yoga are combined with Art and different projects to help kids feel empowered and creative. .
Children have the freedom to think outside the box and explore. Projects are designed to be mindfully created in a group which helps children with compassion and self-confidence, there is also room for a lot of self examination and sharing of that examination and discovery.
Some of the classes included in the series are:
Stress Detective - where and when do you feel stress?
Gratitude & awareness of positive and negative thinking
Observers & Explorers - The mindfulness of the artist.
Castle Hill Center for the Arts - July 15th-17th 2019
Students will explore their imaginations, make art and learn about meditation and mindfulness. A new art project each day while being immersed in nature and self discovery. We’re curious about ourselves and the world around us. We will draw, paint, collect and work in the landscapes and see where our creativity takes us.
For Adults -
The Art of Meditation Program for adults is focused on breaking down the nature of 'over thinking' and the inhibitions we sometimes have about creativity. I believe we are all creative beings. We use art as a way to access mindfulness and meditation. It changes the way you look at the world, it opens you up to exploration and new ways of seeing. We work on projects that allow the thinking mind to take a break, you come away feeling refreshed, focused, connected and renewed.
Some of the projects include;
Still Life Drawing
Working with Color
Sashiko Stitch
Coloring in
Free Drawing
Journaling
Gratitude Projects
Castle Hill Center for the Arts - July 15th-19th 2019
Everyone can draw, everyone can be creative, everyone can practice mindfulness. In this workshop we will be expanding our creative awareness and using simple acts of art making as a way of connecting more profoundly with nature and our lives. You will be introduced to the practice of mindfulness and meditation and you will learn how to apply it to both every day activities as well as creating. We will be finding ways to quiet our minds, our inner critic, let go of perfectionism and what is holding us back and just enjoy the flow of creating. Exploring different mediums such as drawing, stitch, (mini) installations in nature, and projects that help remind us what brings us joy and how to be kind to ourselves.
